• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Recruiting??

We just got a commitment from a 6'11'', 225lb, PF.

Marko Sarenac is a HS senior from Serbia. I don't know a lot about him, but have heard he is a good outside shooter and rebounder. Sounds like he can play the 4 or 5 spots for us.
I'll post more if I get any additional information. I'm not sure if he is related to the guard we got committed earlier.

UPDATE
Marko is described as a 'highly skilled combo big man'. He played on Serbia's U18 national team this year. He is a cousin of Nemanja Serenac, who committed to us earlier.

Blaise Threatt, a 6'3'', 220lb PG out of Colorado Mesa, a D11 school, has made a visit to WSU. He is a big bodied, highly skilled guard who led his team to a 24-4 record last year. He shoots 53% from the floor, 45% from 3, and 73% from the line. He led his team in scoring, 19 ppg, assists and minutes played. He was second in rebounding, 6 rpg, steals, 51, and first in assists and assist to turnover ratio, 1.4. He had nearly as many steals as fouls called against him. He started all 31 games. He has two years of eligibility left. He uses his big body to get to the rim, but he is not a high flier. He reminds me a lot of the PG we had, a few years back, from Spain.

I don't know where he is on our list of potentials, but he looks like a man who could help.

Here is what was said about him in a recent article.

"Threatt claims his second Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season after leading No. 14 Colorado Mesa (24-4, 19-3 RMAC) to an unbeaten week that secured the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament for the Mavericks. The redshirt sophomore registered 24 points on 7-of-12 shooting, in addition to a 7-for-8 clip from the free-throw line, and dished out five assists in Wednesday’s 92-68 win over Westminster. Threatt then recorded 25 points with a 10-for-17 outing from the field to go along with nine rebounds in Thursday’s 83-67 victory over Western Colorado."

Good find Olds. I'm not against D2 transfers. This kid looks solid. By my count we are 1 for 2 on D2 transfers. Berry was a D2 transfer and he was amazing. We also had that Darwshi Hunter kid and he was only here 1 year and didn't play. There are still tons of Point Guards in the portal. I wish I could see the list of players the coaches are in contact with. One thing I noticed about the Big Sky sadly all the good players are transferring except Jones. We will see who all transfers in, but on paper right now, Weber State should be a huge favorite next year just based on the continuity compared to the rest of the conference. Montana State is in total rebuild mode. I can see Montana and EWU still being solid next year though. I'm excited to see who we bring in for that last roster spot.

I have been hoping that Duft would get a quick point in here this year. Still a possibility but after looking at video of this kid maybe we just don't have the connections to get one. Perhaps a D1 transfer won't happen and D2 is our only option.

Well, Blaise it is.

I feel that he is a good get for us. He will fit in nicely. He is a smaller version of Dillon Jones, with a little Verplancken thrown in for good measure. I like his game.

I like Threatt kid. I know a D2 transfer is not that sexy, but he got better every year. His dad was a long time NBA player so the genes are there. Sounds like he got hurt in high school and didn't play much so was not recruited. I love that he is a big kid, plays good defense and had a great assist to turn over ratio. His 3 point shooting got better with each year. He should fit in great with Jones and Verplankin on the guard line. I really like Cunningham coming off the bench and running that second unit. He is a good smart player and could be the top reserve in the Big Sky next year. What has me puzzled is that transfer from Maryland. Revaz. He was there for 3 years and really never played. Does that mean one of our other bigs are leaving? Rouzan or Jordan? Sounds like Tamba and Tew are for sure back. Seems like a strange transfer. Here is my early guess at the starting lineup and top reserves for next year.

1. Threatt
2. Verplankin
3. Koehler
4. Jones
5. Tew

Top Bench Players
6. Cunningham,
7. Tamba
8. Dockery
9 and 10. Sarence cousins

11, 12 13. I have no idea.

You're forgetting about Viljami Vartianan. He may well end up being a starter.

Here is the article on the big man from Maryland.

This young player has committed. 6'8'' G/F out of Canada. Currently at a prep school. He is at CTA West in Calgary, Canada.

Two commitments so far.

David Hansen, a 6'9'' forward out of Canada, and Hunter Hansen, a 6'3'' combo guard, a local player.

David looks to be a good offensive big man who needs to develop his body and become a more physical inside threat and defender. He is playing at a prep school in Canada this year and will join us in the summer.

Hunter is a talented shooter and scorer who also needs to work on his body and defensive skills. I understand that he may be a missionary and would join us in the summer of 2026.

I feel that we may be looking for a couple of additional missionary players to join us in 2026 after their missions.

We will also be looking for a point guard and another multidimensional player. Those two would need to be ready to step in and play. We will be losing 3 starting or rotational players next year and will need more talent/experience in those two players.

So far, I think recruiting is going about as well as can be. :thumb: :thumb:

Here we go!

This young man could be a difference maker for us. He's got my vote.

Now, we need one more player to join up for the 2024 class. There are a lot of ways we can go with that opening. It could be filled this fall or it could wait for spring. I also expect to see at least one more local player, who may be a missionary prospect, to commit for the 2026 class.
