• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Ooops! Someone might want to make sure Mr. Magiya gets the spelling (and pronunciation ?) right. Probably just a keystroke error, no big deal, but some of us have been through too many annoying years of hearing "Webber" State. Wouldn't have mentioned it if the spelling was "Weeber" ... yes, the "Weebs"

Really hoping Hill leaving doesn’t decimate this years recruiting class but I’m really afraid it does. If the wrong coach is picked I think many back away and my other fear is the returning missionary signees choose to never play a down as well. Unfortunately for WSU being an FCS school just doesn’t lend itself to a HC wanting to stay for an eternity. I just hope we don’t go back to 2-9 or 3-8 every year because if we do they may as well cancel the program. The new AD has to nail this hire or else WSU might not be relevant again for years in either sport. Basketball decision has me afraid we have no real vision in the AD department!!

All of our coaches are out on the recruiting trails now. They are still working hard for our interim coach, Mickey Mental, and their own jobs. Who ever the new coach might be, I'm sure that all of that hard work will be appreciated. The coaches and players here now are well indoctrinated in the winning culture that has been established at WSU. I don't see any of that changing and I'm sure that the Athletic Department at WSU is well aware of that as well. We will likely know who has been chosen to lead our program within the next 10 to 14 days. We have some strong candidates already here and there will be a lot more apply from outside. IMHO, the outside applicants would have to be head and shoulders above what we already have for them to have a chance. It's possible, but not likely. And yes, we are not paying $2,000,000 per year like they do at the higher levels, so FCS coaching will always be a stepping stone. That is just a fact of our lives. It doesn't stop us from wanting the best we can get. :coffee:

Personally, I feel that a top 3 or 5 is already in place. The committee is vetting options just to make sure they have the right guys. Yet, I too worry about who is making the decisions. Weber made the wrong choice in keeping an assistant for basketball. The program has been heading in the wrong direction for almost half a decade. That decision was too quick when it shouldn't have been. Putting the interim on Coach Duft and opening a national search would have been the right move. And the best move for the program. It desperately needs a shot in the arm. One good recruiting class is all basketball needs to fix issues. For football, stability is what is needed. It takes seasons to develop players. Weber is on the cusp of becoming really really good. Bringing in a new guy not associated with the institution or program could be really dangerous and frankly harmful. I'm really glad that Mental is the Interim HC now and feel he is playing a role in choosing who the next coach will be. However, in this case, the committee needs to find stability. Someone associated with the program who has the tools necessary to continue and possibly build on what Coach Hill created and leaves.

Also, because signing day is next week. The committee needs to get moving. Guys will make a decision whether to come or go based on who the next HC will be. We have a handful of commitments and guys coming back from missions who want to know where we are headed and if the team will continue on the direction set by Jay Hill.
