2018-19 Schedule and Roster were released curious to get your thoughts.

I'm a big fan of the new league schedule because it is 20 games and balanced for everybody with the 11 team league after North Dakota dropping. I also like the heavy Big West schedule, those are teams that are great to schedule because they are easy travel and comparable to Big Sky play.

Travel Partners:

Sacramento State/Portland State
Weber State/Idaho State
Idaho/Eastern Washington
Montana/Montana State
Northern Arizona/Southern Utah
Lone Wolf: Northern Colorado

Going to be interesting to see how things play out for this roster, lot of new faces. Graves/Fowler/Patton is a strong trio and after that it seems like there isn't much separation between the roster so how the rotation plays out could be fluid.

This is going to be another long year IMO. Even with Graves and Patton at full strength, this team has a lot of holes. We are going to get murdered down low with just two players over 6’6” - maybe one that will actually play (Patton).

No mention of the new floor!?!?! That alone is going to get us an extra 1 or 2 wins.

All joking aside I like the schedule. It’s going to be great to not be the lone wolf in this new BSC scheduling (huge disadvantage which really hurt us when we were stuck in that role). I like that it is heavy with west coast teams that should minimize travel impacts/excuses. Good home-road balance as well (14 of 29 in the Nest, no more than 3 straight road games). I’d like to see 1 less play down game but 2 of those is the norm for many programs these days.

I disagree that it will be another long season. First of all, there is really no where to go but up in the win column. Second, having Graves back should open things up quite a bit (assuming he plays at or near the level we have seen from him). The issues are lack up size down low, perimeter shooting, and depth/impact from the newbies. The lack of size can be mitigated with perimeter shooting. Depth is dependent on how Katz goes about it on the offensive sets and rotations (needs to play into the strengths of this smaller and quicker roster). It’ll be a long season if Graves goes down, or Katz goes about it as if this roster has multiple quality bigs down low…which we don’t have.

I think this team can be in range of 500 (guesstimating 11-14 wins) if a few guys step up alongside Graves and Patton (need more consistency from Le’afa and Tolbert). We need to see wins this year, this program will be at a crossroads heading into ‘19-20 if it’s another disastrous season.

Starters
G – Graves
G – Le’afa
G - Tolbert
F/G - Fowler
F – Patton

Bench
G – Hicks
G - Wu
C – Martin
Not sure where the new folks fit in, guess we’ll find out in the first few weeks of the season.

Hi All,

New to the board but not to Sacramento. Excited to have Graves back. Schedule looks good but I do have concerns with lack of height down low this year and next. Do we know anything about the newcomers?

Welcome to the board. Only info on the incoming players is from earlier Hornetsports releases (linked below). You can probably dig around the interwebs and find more stuff as well.

Osi Nwachukwu

Ethan Esposito

James Bridges

Elijah McCullough

Here's my prediction for the upcoming non-conference season.

Fri, Nov 9 vs Simpson University (W) This is usually a close game in the first half and Hornets will pull away in the second just because of the higher talent pool. (1-0)

Fri, Nov 16 vs Cal Poly (W) My head say this is an L, but I think the Hornets will pull this off bc it's a home game. (2-0)

Tue, Nov 20
vs UC Davis * (L) They just have a more complete team just like in everything else. (Don't get me started) (2-1)

Sat, Nov 24
vs CSU Fullerton (L) It was a closed game last year in the Wooden Classic but Fullerton ended up being a tournament team because they got drastically better as the season went on. This will not be a good game for us. Hope I'm wrong. (2-2)

Thu, Nov 29
@UC Santa Barbara (L) UCSB has one of the best MidMajor recruiting classes and they're usually one of the better team in the BigWest. Playing on the road, I don't think we have a chance here. (2-3)

Sat, Dec 1
@CSU Northridge (L) the BigWest "gauntlet" ends here. Northridge has a Power5 coach with an above average recruiting class. It could be a close game but I think home court advantage prevails here.(2-4)

Sat, Dec 8
@Portland (L) just a better team. Plus, they will punish us in the post with their size. (2-5)

Tue, Dec 11
vsHoly Names. (W) We're the better team here. Same comment applies from the Simpson game (3-5)

Fri, Dec 21
@(#25) Washington (L) LOL. yeah...(3-6)
