Can't wait for SD's preview of this one with some of the player-mix I see at CP. Lots of storylines here.... revenge, guys on/off the team, can they keep the momentum going, will be push past 15k in attendance?

State Hornet reported Agiye Hall will remain with the team, but is not eligible to play this season.

What do you think @SDHornet ? I love that there are INTs in the write up that didn't happen according to the Box Score lol...

Game Story

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State rode a balanced offensive attack and a bend-but-don’t-break defense to a 41-35 win over Cal Poly on Saturday at Hornet Stadium. The Hornets improved to 3–2 on the season, while Cal Poly drops to 2–3.

Quarterback Cardell Williams turned in one of his best games of the season, completing 23 of 32 passes for 310 yards and three touchdowns, and avoiding any interceptions. Running back Damian Henderson II bolstered the ground game, rushing for 140 yards and two scores. Freshman wideout Ernest Campbell emerged as a key weapon, hauling in seven catches for 135 yards and two touchdowns.

For Cal Poly, QB Ty Dieffenbach showed his dual-threat ability, throwing for 300 yards and three touchdowns and chipping in a rushing score, but the Mustangs were undone by two critical turnovers and some untimely defensive breakdowns. Michael Briscoe caught eight passes for 140 yards and two scores, while Jordan Garrison added six catches for 120 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively, Sacramento State got a big game from Derek Houston, who led the team with 12 tackles and broke up a pass in the fourth quarter to snuff out a potential tying drive. Safety Koa Akui secured an interception deep in Hornet territory late in the third, setting up a scoring drive. Edge defender Jayland McGlothen pressured Dieffenbach all evening, recording two sacks and multiple tackles for loss. On Cal Poly’s side, linebacker Mikey D’Amato led the team with 11 tackles and a sack; cornerback Kresean Kizzy added an interception that kept the Mustangs in striking range late.

Cal Poly opened with a quick strike, as Briscoe hauled in a 25-yard TD pass, but Sacramento State responded with a field goal and then scored on the ground to take the lead. The Hornets pulled ahead in the second quarter with Williams-to-Campbell connections, and they held a 24–14 edge at the half. The Mustangs battled back in the third, tying and then taking a one-score lead at times, but Sacramento State’s late-game composure—anchored by a running touchdown by Rodney Hammond Jr. and a clutch 42-yard field goal by Grant Meadors—sealed the win.

Game Notes Observations

  • Jamar Curtis listed as an "OR" with Sam Adams II. Keep in mind, Jamar Curtis played as a True Freshman. If he's hurt, they might be trying to float him to the Idaho and UC Davis games + playoffs and then he could return in 2026.
  • Puloka who started last two games, not listed on two-deep.

If anyone is interested where the name KozPure came from..

It came from Josh (and Luke's) last name Kozinets. That's where KozPure came from, it's not just a random stupidly sounding name.

Luke Woods actual birth name is Jonathan Kozinets. Here is a picture of him with his father Alex Kozinets:

So, this sketch ass KozPure company now talking about the Soccer stadium was created by Luke Woods brother at about the same time the "Sac-12" drive was created. KozPure was created less than a year ago.

KozPure does not even have a website, nor do Joshua's other companies all registered to the same suite number in this building: 3195 Zinfandel Dr. Ste # 21 Rancho Cordova.

Not one of this guys companies has a website. And they're talking about multi-million dollar stadium contracts? Do they have any prior stadium jobs to show? I can't find anything..

Also listed to that address is another one of Joshua Woods LLCs Kozinets Purewal, Llc. (a "consulting company") as well as Alpha One Sports and entertainment group. and of course KozPure all listed to Joshua at the same suite number.

-----------

Also, serious question: Why is it Luke and Joshua "can't find their mother" when they know who their father is and they were supposedly born in jail? Really? They can't find her?

Do women now give birth in jail, and nobody knows what their name is? That would be weird.. "Oh, another lady just popped out a baby from cell block C.. Unfortunately we don't know who she is, guess these kids will never know who their mom is."

Luke's fascination with creating a Black Honors College at Sac (even though black people are 6% of your student body) and now a Jewish Honors College at Sac. (even though Jewish people are probably 1 % of your student body or less) make a lot more sense when you realize he's at most half black (but 100% identifies as black online), and likely half Jewish.

I'm still amazed the guy hasn't been fired after it was revealed he said he wanted to "eliminate whiteness" and his "tolerance for white fragility score was 5%" but I guess certain rules for certain groups, other rules for others..

Shouldn't you be more concerned about Cow Poly's upcoming beatdown Saturday night at Hornet Stadium?

Look who shows up during Cal Poly week. Feeling confident about this Saturday?

30.5 for SD State??? Hmmm . I'm not usually a gambling man, but...

Cal Poly isn't a strong program as their two lopsided wins are against a non-D1 opponent and a on-scholie San Diego and their 2 lopsided losses are against a very strong Utah program and a middle of the road Stephen F Austin program. The Mustangs kept it close in the first half at SFA last week before the wheels came off in the 3rd quarter. CP's starting quarterback did leave the game early with an injured ankle.

The Cal Poly offense likes to run a lot of misdirection and short screen plays with quarterback Ty Dieffenbach (33/49, 579 yds, 5 TD, 1 INT, 25 car, 89 yds, 1 TD) who is also their leading rusher. Running back Tyrei Washington (22 car, 66 yds, 1 TD, 1 rec 22 yds) gets the bulk of the carries when Dieffenbach doesn't keep the ball. The prime target in the passing game is wide receiver Michael Briscoe (20 rec, 428 yds, 7 TD) who has big play potential. Kian Salehi (14 rec, 210 yds, 1 TD) and Jordan Garrison (11 rec, 166 yds) are the other main receivers. Up front, the Cal Poly offensive line struggles in the run game and has given up 9 sacks on the year.

Defensively the Mustangs haven't slowed any of their D1 opponents on the ground and are giving up an average of 30 points a game. CP isn't very big on the line but they have some capable linebackers in the 2nd level. Linebacker Mikey D'amato (37 tak, 3.5 TFL, 3 sac) leads the defense in tackles, sacks, and TFLs.

Cal Poly has 2 kickers that are both perfect on the year in Noah Serna (3/3 FG, 6/6 PAT) and Gianluca Dimauro (3/3 FG, 9/9 PAT) with a long of 51 on the year.

The Hornets are the more talented team by a wide margin in this one. The Mustangs have a small chance of victory if Dieffenbach plays, and no chance at a win if he is unable to play as CP's backup QB's are awful. Aside from the big play potential of Briscoe, there aren't any proven playmakers on this CP offense. Unfortunately for CP, the line play isn't there to beat a team as talented as the Hornets. Should be a big win for the Hornets as I don't see how the CP defense slows down the Hornet rushing attack.

Stingers Up!

Man, either CP thinks they're being tricky by not releasing Game Notes yet, or their SID is incompetent. Or hey, maybe both!

38-24 SAC!
