• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Didn't we give Oregon State one of those loses?

Edit: Oregon State was 42-12. 2 loses seemed mighty impressive and even more impressive that Sac State beat them.

Congrats to Coach Christensen and the entire team on a dream season.

I think being in the SLO regional is huge for us. I think we have a potential to win a few games. We definitely have stout pitching and when our hitters get into a rhythm, they are hard to sit down. Plus, we have held our own against the top 25 this year, going 3-3.

Anything is possible. Remember, Fresno State won the National Championship in 2008 as a 4 seed. Its baseball, anything is possible!

Go Hornets!

May the Green and Gold from the Central Valley shine bright this weekend.

And perhaps Hornet baseball is the start of waking up the sleeping Giant known as Sac State!!

Go Hornets!!

Christiansen was on the radio earlier in the week. He said LHP Sam Long will get the start tomorrow with RHP Brennan Leitao going Saturday and RHP Justin Dillon on Sunday.

He also said “we hope to get lights and a resurfaced field soon.” Reading between the lines I think it’s clear that facility improvement needs to be seen or he is outta here. :twocents:

Facility improvements and keeping Christiansen have to be high priorities. Lights and resurfacing won't break the bank. I think a larger clubhouse with better amenities has to be next, coupled with a press box and new scoreboard. It's actually a nice little facility, better than many in DI, but could be great. If this season is a glimpse of things to come, Sac State could be a major player in years to come. I hope the next AD provides significant investment. The university and its fans are yearning for success and national recognition.

Yep. I think with the tournament appearance, Christiansen feels he's gotten a little clout and is starting to use it. I don't blame him.

Something to consider....the Master Plan being presented to trustees has an option of moving the baseball stadium to where the current soccer field is located. A variation of the same plan has John Smith staying in its current location.

Methinks, besides apathy, and the turned down stadium offer over a decade ago, that no major improvements have been done to the John because why improve it if you are just going to move it?

School needs to make a decision, ahem, on where the John will be located...permanently. Once it is set in stone, I bet more effort, $$ and improvements can be done.

Lights are a no-brainer, who can get out of work at 2 or 4 to watch a Hornets game mid-week consistently? Make it 7:05 or 6:35 start times. I also say they should paint bulls-eyes in random locations on the parking deck wall facing the field. Give the batters something to shoot for.

You hear those funky cat roars at any school with a cat mascot during football season, why not have the sound of swarming bees fill the stadium when we take the field or in between timeouts?

Thanks RB. Good to hear you guys are hanging onto your coach. That should keep the Runners building their program for the better. :thumb:

Bee articles, good piece on Leitao:

General outlook:

And the Hornets are inching closer to having lights for their home field to better showcase their success.
I hope this is accurate and we see/hear movement about this sooner rather than later.

The heart of the order couldn't get anything going. We couldn't take advantage of a fair amount of walks. Regroup and come out swinging today!

We played the best defense I have seen this year. Imhof was just too good, He is one of the best pitcher we have played against, and we still got two runs. Cal Poly is one excellent team and we played to their level.

Hornet fell to CP 6-5 in the elimination game. FR Justin Dillon had a rough outing, other than that a great effort by the Hornets. Great season, safe to call this the best Hornet baseball season ever!

Congrats to the Hornets and Coach C for getting this program to this point. A lot of freshman getting some experience this season so lots to look forward to. Now get some lights up so we can keep Coach C here forever.
 :notworthy:
