2025 Season

Hey folks, how are we feeling this year? It is the third one under coach Lamb. He's been pretty old school in his approach to making this football team his own. However, he is starting to use the portal more and we should be fairly solid in the lines...as long as we have a healthy quarterback for most of the season. What are your thoughts?

The OL will be solid and the QB position has much more depth than last year's debacle. Last year's debacle after Costelli going down is on the coaches after watching Box's QB performance against Portland State when given a valid game plan. But the QB debacle hid one of most glaring issues which was showing before Costelli went down, a defense that was one of the worst in the FCS against the run. Even with Box's performance against PSU which resulted in most total yards for the season and opened up a run game along with the passing game, the D gave up over 350 yards rushing. Similar rushing numbers were given up against NAU (317) the week before and EWU (339) before that. Not even looking at the passing yards given up but all three games had over 500 yards total offense for the opponents. That isn't a UNC QB issue, that is a D issue that was hidden by the QB issue. If UNC doesn't fix the defense this year, it will not matter who the QB is because Lamb offenses have not been able to score enough to keep up with a poor defense.

I have been MIA since the end of last season. I'm just starting to catch up here. Does someone have any good articles to read about the team? I'm hoping that Cam Chapa can be a force on the defense!

Not a lot out there and probably a good reason why. The occasional article from the Tribune. But even that lacks depth because I am not sure the person who took over as sports writer is that knowledgeable regarding sports. Some cookie cutter type of articles and nothing deep regarding the program. Really hurts that Blake Olson abruptly stopped doing videos in the spring. He put out a video one day and then no more. Not sure what that was about or why he quit or was he pushed out? Those videos were really good last fall and was something the program never had. His practice and post game interviews were great. There is the Football 52 with Coach and Hull. But those have gotten stale as they continue to repeat the same thing over and over. It was really interesting at first when they talked about deep football stuff. Now that only occasionally happens. It is a good thing Brady Hull saying "I really like to hear that" or something about coach lifts with the players is not part of a drinking game. You would be drunk by the end of the podcast. About the closest to getting anything regarding the team has come from the Bear Claw guys. They have done a breakdown of all the positions. Give them a listen on youtube. They seem to be die hard Bears fans.

As for Chapa, I hope he has a great year. But I would like to see a LB step up and lead the team in tackles. But that requires the DL to keep opposing OL's from getting second level blocks.
