As noted in various news outlets last night, the baseball scandal at UC Davis has led to the resignation of HC Matt Vaughn. Many of the players are no longer there, largely because of a regime of heavy hazing that apparently included one-on-one drinking-till-one-pukes. There were also vague reports about threatened rape. Even pre-sign recruits were involved in the hazing. Drugs of various types were also involved. Vaughn was cited in the internal investigation as having known (or that he SHOULD have known) about it at least since 2018, but did nothing about it, while the two assistant coaches (one is gone, the other will likely be gone when a new staff is hired). The team was prohibited from practicing until about five weeks ago, and that without coach supervision because they were placed on administrative leave.
Vaughn had been HC for the last ten years and had been involved with the program since he pitched for Davis in the early '90s.
