• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Baseball at Utah Valley this weekend

UNC will attempt to get off the schneid and pickup up their first WAC victory this weekend at Utah Valley. The Wolverines are 16-14 (3-3 in the WAC) and defeated Utah yesterday. The Bears bring a 5-20 (0-3 WAC) record into the series. UNC dropped their 5th straight game yesterday, losing to Air Force 14-4 in Greeley.

Utah Valley is batting .276 as a team with a 5.35 team ERA. Their offense is led by Mark Krueger (.354 average, 3 HR, 19 RBI) and Greysen Bodgen (.323 average, 3 HR, 15 RBI). They have committed 38 errors (the Bears have 31 errors in 2016).

It is not hard to decipher where UNC is falling short statistically compared to 2015:

2015 (full season)
.277 batting average 4.95 runs scored per game 6.50 team ERA
2016 (thus far)
.219 batting average 3.44 runs scored per game 6.62 team ERA

Clearly, offensive run production has got to increase for the Bears to start winning. Hopefully the bats will get hot this weekend!

Bears win!

After taking a hard fought 4-2 loss on Friday, UNC showed they still had a lot of fight in them on Saturday as they came back from a 7-2 deficit against Utah Valley to take a short lived 8-7 lead. The Wolverines tied the game and then won it in the bottom of the 9th with a 3 run walk off homer. On Sunday, the Bears could have easily folded their tents and given up as they fell behind early 3-0 but fought back. The game ended up in extra innings with UNC at last prevailing 8-6 in 12 innings.

UNC is now 6-22 and 1-5 in the WAC. They finally get a home conference series this coming weekend against CSU Bakersfield.
