• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Nevada and Wyoming

Nevada is 7-1 with wins over Washington, Portland. LMU, Montana, Sac St and their only loss in the last game to 10-1 Drake.

Wyoming is 6-3, with a 23 point loss to #17 Texas.

Looks like a couple of good road challenges. The Cal Poly game is hard to know if WSU is improving since the debacle at UVU. The Wildcats played with more energy and shot the ball better, but Cal Poly outshot WSU in 3 pt and overall percentages. WSU won by forcing 22 turnovers, which is more than Cal Poly made baskets, and only turning it over 7 times. The Mustangs were very sloppy, hopefully that was largely due to the Wildcat defense.

Go Wildcats!

It’s easy to see…… our bigs aren’t being used. Even the threat of going to a big isn’t there. We got two points from the 5 spot against Nevada and that was from our bench. Watch the game and you’ll see that the scouting report is clear against Weber…….. just play defense on the guards and you’ll shut us down. Let Jones get his. We’ve been one dimensional the last 7 years. Nevada played team ball and had 21 assist. We play hero ball and had 9 assist. It’s Coach Rahe all over again! We quit playing inside after Tresnak and Bolomboy left.

Alex Tew is a very good big man, but unfortunately he got into major foul problems in this game. He picked up two fouls early in the first half and then picked up his fourth with only couple of minutes gone in the second half. That took Alex right out of the game. Revaz has played well in a backup role so far this year, but he was clearly out of rhythm against Nevada. That happens. Although improving, Tamba is still a work in progress. He needs to go up stronger inside when guarded. He did once with a great dunk. but twice missed because he didn't go up strong enough.

Another thing that must be realized. This Nevada team is no UVU. They are a top tier team with with wins over Washington, Portland. LMU, Montana, Sac St and their only loss in the last game to 10-1 Drake. After the win over Weber, Nevada is 10-1. This was also the best defense that Weber State will face all season long.

I referred to UVU because the UVU loss was an absolutely unacceptable, pathetic loss. Hopefully (and I believe it was) it was just an aberration. Although I was hoping for a better performance against Nevada, it was not the terrible loss you're making it out to be.

Yes, we did have trouble getting the ball to Alex Tew (our best big man) although it's hard to get him involved in the offense when he's on the bench in foul trouble. Tamba needs to improve on the offensive side of the ball and he will. Revaz will also improve. But we did score inside with Dillon, Koehler & even Blaise Threat (the point guard.)

You bring up some good points. The play of our bigs needs to improve. Tew needs to learn how to keep out of foul trouble while still playing aggressively. Tamba needs to go up stronger. Both Tamba & Tew need to improve their free throw shooting. Revaz needs to become more aggressive offensively.

But to refer to this as "Coach Rahe all over again" is a total misunderstanding of this basketball team.

Man, did I need to see that!

Verplancken hopefully, stays hot. Threatt looks legit - had Lakers season tickets when his dad played so really fun to cheer his son at Weber - but Tew was a monster.

15 for 15 at the free throw.

Dillion regained his elite edge.

Just a great win… on the road too.
