• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Hasn't changed since Katz later years and was disappointed last year: my personal expectations for the team is .500+ in both non-conference and Big Sky

I was hoping for a few more wins last year, but it was DP's first season and the on the court product was a lot more palatable than what we got in the waning years of the Katz era. Keep in mind he had a short recruiting window heading into last season and his roster was handcuffed with some of the useless Katz/Laird carryovers. DP's first season was definitely a step in the right direction for this program.

Going into year 2, DP had a full year to recruit and bring in better talent and finally turnover the remainder of the roster. Couple that with the fact that the BSC is a garbage conference and there is reason to believe this team can make some noise if these players can play well. I think the pre-season mentions are valid.

I agree that the bar for success is a .500+ season and will add that we need to see some success (at least a win) in the BSCT.

I am hopeful for this season, but with all of the turnover, and a lot of the new players being young with limited experience the team will probably be better next year if we can retain the players that turn out to be the better ones. I think the NCAA is finally starting to put some things in place to limit the multiple transfers so that may help. As for holdovers from Katz/Laird I disagree as Chappel and Wilbon were two of the better players and without them last year’s team would have fared worse. I also thought last years team was not very entertaining to watch and had a lot more give up than the teams under Katz/Laird. Might be a byproduct of all the transfers who may tend to play for themselves as opposed to for the team. Hoping this year there is more commitment to playing defense. Look forward to the season and to see how things play out. A lot of mystery to the Big Sky with all but mainly Weber having major turnover in the transfer portal. Wondering if the new President can be the one to finally replace the Nest and give us a better chance to succeed. President Nelson and the last couple of AD’s have not delivered.

Made this handy roster chart. I just made some guess on the new players' position based on their size and previous stats (for some players) and the counts is only for scholarship players.

A lot of size like last year but I don't think there is a pure point guard on roster unless it's Bailey Nunn (but he is a freshman)

Nice chart....I'm going to guess a starting lineup....Betson at the 1, Patterson the 2, Hamoda 3, Powell 4 and Mawein at 5....Adams will play a lot but after that it's a crap shoot for me right now...I saw Nunn play in the championship game of the Aussie pro league and he may be readier than most think...He has been playing against grown men for the last 2 years and I don't see the BSC as strong as their pro league....Holt may like the change of teams but would really like to see Dioramma be the surprise of the season (havent seen him play but the numbers are staggering)...Should be a competitive year and could be a really good year...Only 2 seniors bodes well for the future...

Here's my depth chart....

PG Betson/Nunn/Wilson (RS?)
SG Patterson/Adams/Vaughns
SF Hamoda/Kovatchev (RS?)/Skytta
PF Powell/Holt/Dioramma (RS?)
PF/C Mawein/KKCD/Beatty (RS?)

I don't know anything about the person tweeting (and I'm not agreeing with it) but here's one preseason projection out there

Watched a few more clips of Nunn....don't want to put any pressure on anyone but he reminds me of Dylan Garrity...of course Garrity had a superior shot when he arrived at Sac but this kid can shoot a bit too....If I am even close to being right, the Hornets got a steal from Australia.......I saw where several of our former Hornets (Mauriohooho-Le'afa and Hunter Marks) are playing in the Pro league that Nunn has been playing in for the last two years
