Re: Week 13: Causeway....

Very good win for the Hornets and a great way to end the season with 3 straight wins. I, for one, was so disgusted after the No Colorado game, even though it was a win, that I didn't think they would get another win. I was wrong, and I'm glad I was. Sears kept this team together and let his OC do wh...

Re: Hornet women's basketball starts off big.

Another fun game to watch. The Hornets had much better play than last year in the paint on both offense and defense. It took the new players about the first half to really see what goes on with the frenetic pace of play, but it looks like they are a quick study. Should be an entertaining season.

Re: Week 11: Southern Utah at Sac State

Very good win for the Hornets. This is the most complete game they've played all year. D line put pressure on the QB, D line did a good job of stopping the run, and the best part was the d-backs were looking for the ball and knocking passes away! Offense looked much sharper than against Montana (but...

Re: Week 3: Sac State vs Weber State

Great assessment of the game...our weakest area seems to be the secondary...still trying to figure out if it's a technique issue or personnel issue... From when I am gathering is that Coach Sears likes to be more aggressive up front and will gamble with the DB/WR matchups. You win some you loose so...

Re: 2014 Fall Camp

Several JC additions and a couple of high school kids added to the roster, with Dre Terrell now showing as well as a JC RB by the name of Garrett Steele, a 2 star recruit out of high school that we had offered. Nolan Mercker, a QB and punter is also showing, but the kicker from Hilmar High is not on...

Cal game bus trip

I just sent a note to Kercia in the football office asking whether there would be busses going to the Cal game. She responded that, yes, there will be busses going to Cal. Considering how bad parking is down there, the $100 for bus/game ticket/refreshments isn't as bad as it might sound, considering...

Big Sky Podcast for Sac State

Listening to coach Sears on the podcast, I found his thoughts on "getting over the hump" to be a top tier football program to be interesting. There was all the usual talk of the players buying in, trusting each other and being a family. There was nothing said about the coaches coaching better/smarte...

Players leaving the program

There appear to be a number of players no longer on the spring roster. Some may not have ever played and some played well last year. Most noteworthy to me was Cole Hikutini who played well last year. Morgan Nevin, a JC linebacker that was brought in to shore up the linebackers is not on the roster a...

Re: Running Backs Coach is Out

From what I have been hearing is that Ingram was basically suspended from the "get go"....whether it's a buy out or firing, it makes not to much difference. The cost to the school is basically the same and less chance of any repercussion. Kelley will remain with the staff and has assumed the recrui...

Re: Running Backs Coach is Out

Ingram was the last of Sperbeck's original group of coaches, so now we can move forward with a whole new regime and hopefully get the coaches that can move the program above mediocrity.

Re: Sperbeck, UNEXPECTED DEPARTURE

Sperbeck is the only coach in America who has asked Coach Adams to coordinate. He left on literally hours of notice and no one in the program had any idea he had even applied elsewhere until his bags were pack. If he wanted to move on fine, but he certainly could have done it much differently. I ne...

Re: Sperbeck, UNEXPECTED DEPARTURE

San Jose is a "better" position than Sac State? SJSU is FBSINO. IMO, Sac is an IMMENSELY better place to be.... Better as in moving to an FBS program. Granted, San Jose is FBS a step above Idaho, but it's a step in the right direction if your goal is to eventually be a coach in one of the big 5 con...

Re: Sperbeck, UNEXPECTED DEPARTURE

So you think my disdain is for Sperbeck is solely about firings? How about his hirings? He hired Adams to be his OC without any evidence on his resume to suggest he was capable only to have him bail without notice 48 hours before the start of spring practice. Nice evaluation of talent and character...

Re: Sperbeck, UNEXPECTED DEPARTURE

So I was wondering if anyone had the scoop on Jeff Schuman leaving? I haven't heard much on this...wonder if their is any connection? My understanding is that the "Director of Football Operations" is supposed to be keeping all the off the field stuff in line. Obviously he didn't and now he is no lo...

Re: Sperbeck, UNEXPECTED DEPARTURE

Aileen Voisin had a different write up. Sounds like tension between Petersen and also Wanless. Unsigned letter with specifics about contacts during dead period, longer than allowed phone calls, all to me point to Anthony Parker. He was the only one still around after the firings, and would definite...

Re: Spring Ball

I've about given up on this program. They want to be in the elite of the BSC, but you wouldn't know it by how they market the program. Nothing on the website about the spring game, except on the spring schedule, they have an updated roster, but when a lot of the players are wearing different numbers...

Spring Ball

Went out to the practice this morning and enjoyed a good day of football. Sears was working with the corners and AP was working hard with the safeties. Didn't get a real good feel for the new D line coach, as he seemed to be having trouble moving around and didn't seem to engage with his players muc...
