Re: Spring Ball 2018

So spring ball is almost complete. Has anyone gone to any of the practices? No information from the school that I can find. Hard to generate interest when it's hard to know that we have a team...there should be all kinds of promotions and information building on last years success.

Re: Spring Ball 2018

Yes, go to Hornetsports and you'll find it on the football page after opening the "more" tab. There is a spring schedule there.

Re: Roster attrition

No, Perkinson is still on the roster. Buchanan and Erickson are the two that are not showing on the 2018 roster. However, the running back from Pittsburg, Montaz Thompson, is now on the roster after his grey shirt year.

Roster attrition

Other than the seniors from last year, only 3 other players are not on the current 2018 roster. Two freshman running backs and the punter. That's a huge difference from the past couple of years when bunches of players did not return. Winning must be a good thing that players want to be a part of...

Price of Success

According to Skyline Sports, Facebook and Twitter, Sac State cornerback coach CJ Cox will take the same position at the University of Montana. I felt that coach Cox did a great job with the cornerbacks this year, and that the success the program had in 2017 is being acknowledged with coaches being h...

Re: Commitments

The only other ones I've seen are Marcus Aponte from St. Mary's and Brandon Rupchock from Folsom. Very few seniors leaving this year and don't know about attrition yet.

Re: 2018 Schedule

I'll even meet you at the football office...walk you right in and introduce you to Coach Sears and the staff. Then we can take a walk down to the weight room and you can meet some of the players. I'm sure they'd love to get coached up by SDHornet. Being a coward is unacceptable regardless of the ci...

Re: Week 8: @ North Dakota

I'm going to give a lot of credit to the new assistant coaches for this years improvement. There is some excitment coming back to Hornet football.

Re: This game will tell

I'll be the first to give some credit to Lawanson as the DC. He has the team playing with confidence and it appears that with Parker gone, the backs are playing well. The Oline even looked better last night, opening some nice holes for the backs. Let's see if they can keep the momentum going next we...

Beer Garden

Hey, at least there's a beer garden this year. And here's hoping the defense keeps up it's intensity and the offense finds itself. I truly believe that Dotson will be a star in this league if he stays healthy.

Re: Deflate Gate 2017

Montaz will enter the program next season. I would guess he received a grey shirt. Yes he is grey shirting, with signing of Elijah Dotson and Eric Buchanan, they wanted to spread them out O assume. Thank you for the information. I was hoping for the grey shirt rather than that he was not coming to ...

Re: Deflate Gate 2017

Didn' know where else to post this question, so I'll do it here. Anyone with knowledge of the program and the fall camp know where Montaz Thompson is? He's the running back out of Pittsburg. With what little comes out of the school regarding the football program, fans are left wondering what's going...

Re: Post Spring Ball 2017

Since we're talking coaches here, we have to remember that a head coach is only as good as his assistants. We've had some quality assistant coaches here but the good ones always find greener pastures. At one time we had Johnny O (HC now), Daniel Del Prado (Special teams at Colorado), Andy Avalos (DC...

Re: Post Spring Ball 2017

Nice to see some speed coming this fall with Elijah Dotson running a 10.76 100 meters at the State meet. We have not had that kind of size and speed for some time.

Re: Post Spring Ball 2017

You know this happens everywhere, the chances of a full class making it through is nearly impossible, usually 50% make it. Who is leaving? Okay, here's my list of who is not on the 2017 roster that was not a senior last year: Jordan Thomas DB Marcus Green DB Remmy Nerio DB Nick Melchor DB John Wags...

Re: Post Spring Ball 2017

Looks like the Hornet's could be running the ball a lot next year with 4 quality backs coming in the Fall.

Re: Nate Ketteringham Transfers

I agree. He was way too inconsistent. When he got in a rhythm he wasn't too bad, but the O line didn't give him the time he needed. The other issue I saw was that he would lock in on his initial receiver as soon as the ball was snapped. Hope he lands somewhere and does well. The next question is who...

Re: Spring Ball 2017

For those of you thinking of going to the spring game tonight, I asked about parking and got the following reply:
"You would have to park somewhere off campus. 6:30pm they may not ticket but no guarantees".

To me, that's kind of a buzz kill.....

Re: Spring Ball 2017

It is sad that we're talking more about changing coaches than about the upcoming season. There is some fine young talent on this team, but I'm not sure there is anyone to coach and lead them properly. Haven't seen anything in the past two years that would indicate that there is...
