Re: New Arena??

Yup, no way the next Pres will touch this topic for a very long time…and rightfully so. I’m not putting the blame on that Coms class that lead this effort, the blame falls on Gonzo. The only way this thing passes is if it is coupled with private fundraising to lower the fee burden to be paid by the...

Re: New Arena??

Meh. Prices in everything is always rising. Problem is they had inexperienced students running the campaign for a huge project. They essentially asked the other students would like to pay more. Answer is always no. If you want it to have a shot, you have to combine it with something more palatable o...

Re: New Arena??

Unfortunately, people are more motivated to vote against something. Hard to get a positive vote on something like this unless there was an adversary to vote against.

Re: New Arena??

What is it they say about the millennials? Ah yes. The 'me me me' generation. Listen to the wise advice of SD and JP. They took the time to lay it out for you in a very nice and respectful way. They speak from the perspective that you will have one day as an alumni. The degree you earn from this sch...

What are the expectations this year? Winning record and Big Sky tournament? Chance to win the tournament? I've never really associated the bball program with pressure.

Re: New Arena??

Like everything, it takes good leadership and vision to get to the next level. I don't know if the ability to raise fees on his own would extend to the next president, but if it does, this sickens me. If he's too afraid to do it, then let the next person do it. Don't just kill it. Either way, I thin...

Re: New Arena??

Any predictions for next weeks vote? I'm an optimistic person and want to say it will pass, but young people are generally not beating down doors to vote on anything. In addition, the people who are generally motivated to vote on anything are the ones who DON'T want something to pass.

Re: New Arena??

The interior renderings aren't very pretty, but get it done. Just can't play in the current gym anymore. The bball program has a chance right now and that gym could put a ceiling on their growth. And yes, because people are people, you have to remind them that the majority of events in the arena wou...

Re: MLS

Most schools play on campus. Though I'd prefer to have an on campus stadium, if Sac State isn't going to renovate, then I'd welcome this.

How willing would we be to ditch Hornet Stadium after incorporating Broad and The Well though?

As much as I like Todd Davis, let's not wish any injuries or poor play on my Saints.

Re: Facility Improvements Announced

So what does Gonzo's retirement do for potential facility improvements? Or anything regarding our sports programs for that matter. Makes me wonder if Gonzo and Wanless mailed it in the past few years because they didn't want to have big projects on there way out.

I didn't know it was the minority view. I'd much rather stick with the traditional SAC helmet.

Re: POWER 5 CONFERENCES...Where does that leave the FCS & BS

Montana is never getting a MWC invite. Schools that bring TV sets and recruiting areas are what is important regarding realignment, not what old rivalries can be rekindled. Montana offers nothing as far as the MWC is concerned. They have enough mouths to feed with the front range schools as it is, ...

Re: MLS

I'm with you SD. There is no will by the people in power to build an on campus arena or even renovate the stadium. The best bet is to use the new facilities that are to be built downtown. It would affect tailgating, but transportation via light rail could bring students right to the front steps of e...

Re: MLS

MLS would require an expansion team to play on grass and that the stadium be located in a downtown/urban setting. You can have the field be closer to 200 feet wide, but yes, it is bigger than a football field.

Didn't we give Oregon State one of those loses?

Edit: Oregon State was 42-12. 2 loses seemed mighty impressive and even more impressive that Sac State beat them.

Re: Sperbeck, UNEXPECTED DEPARTURE

Hey, I can accept this conspiracy theory of "dumping" the football program after this season. Let's see: we can't raise enough funding for an events center and/or stadium renovation, so eliminate a need to fix up the stadium. Take the money from the football program over the next several years and ...

Re: State Hornet Picks Up the Torch on Arena Bait and Switch

I'm looking at the updated project plans and can't help but imagine the benefit of having Sac State basketball game flashing on the new digital billboards that are being planned. Starts on page 239 I believe. If you have Sac State vs say, UOP or Oregon or Cal posted on all those billboards throughou...
