Re: Bengal Great Butler Dies

Saddened, disappointed, but not necessarily surprised that I haven't seen any mention of this on the athletic's website. Bridges to all Bengals need to be built, rebuilt, and maintained.

Re: Ian Fox sighting

With Geno and Novak gone, there's nobody left on the team who even knew him, is there? Only Bill and Tim have had interaction with him, and I bet they haven't even thought of him in 2-3 years. He wasn't here long enough to establish an identity, so 99% of fans in the stands won't even remember him. ...

Re: Game

Jeff didn't know how to schedule. He said he was mandated to play 2 FBS money games, but the folks who were on lower campus at the time said they never made such requirement. Go figure that one out. The 2 FBS games became a regular occurrence under Tingey. Fact. This year's schedule is another bad e...

They call that a bet? How about something like, "If we win, the Ag Expo and UI Potato Conference has to be scheduled AFTER basketball season?"

Re: New temp A.D. and national search-what will it mean?

If Coach Evans is not rehired will players that have the opportunity to transfer leave. That’s the issue the AD is going to have to deal with, none of those players are going to want to be part of a rebuilding year as seniors. Rebuild what? They've had 2 straight losing seasons. If they have a good...

Re: History for Otis Campbell

So the future. Vailas retired, after securing a private medical school which is being built on ISU's Meridian campus. He also pissed off most of the faculty/staff by focusing more on private dollars and trying to run the university as a business. There were pros and cons with him, for sure. Of the t...

Re: History for Otis Campbell

Now, about Montana. Montana has/had a sugar daddy named Dennis Washington. That's not a bad thing. Frankly it makes me jealous. He's given your Griz close to $50 million since the 1980's, yes? Folks here in Idaho will recognize the name as the Washington Group, that company which took over Idaho's M...

Re: History for Otis Campbell

So Bowen finally retires, and Dr. Art Vailas is hired. Vailas was hired to 1) research and solve the lack of a medical school in Idaho; and 2) make ISU less reliant on state money and focus more on private dollars. After the Bubb fiasco, Jeff Tingey was eased into the AD spot. Was he qualified? Prob...

Can't disagree with much of what you wrote. The concert situation though also was influenced by the fact that because concerts started staging large productions with massive speakers the engineers declared that the Holt Arena roof / structure could not and would not support all that weight. It was ...

Re: History for Otis Campbell

Keeping up? So let's jump back to Richard Bowen and talk about his now infamous run of AD musical chairs. After Babe retired, Bowen hired the following as AD: 1. Tom Jewell a) He had been the wrestling coach, but like other schools, the sport was dropped. b) When it was obvious he wasn't qualified a...

Re: History for Otis Campbell

Prior to Bowen, ISU's presidents were William "Bud" Davis, and Myron "Barney" Coulter. Each oversaw a stable and productive athletic department. The AD during most of Davis tenure was Dubby Holt. Like it or not, the Minidome was a world class facility in its day. When Holt retired, Babe Caccia assum...

History for Otis Campbell

Okay Otis, you keep asking the same questions regarding ISU over and over. Rather than hijack a thread like so many do on here, I thought I'd create a new thread. Be patient, because this is going to be a long one, probably separated by several posts. Understand a lot of this is my opinion, and if a...

Re: Next Year's Schedule...

(For ISU it also means the chance for a few more home games for both the women and the men. And that's a big deal.) PBP Doesn't it just mean 1 "extra" home game? The conference has played an 18 game schedule, so 9 home and 9 away. Now a 20 game schedule means 10 home and 10 away. Yes, one extra for...

Re: U.S.U. fires mens basketball coach.

Those articles illustrate that ISU isn't alone with problems we sometimes think are only ours. They might be on a different scale, but they exist. I understand the Brad Rock column is strictly opinion, but he also conveniently leaves out Wyoming as an example. They have 4 winning seasons out of the ...

Re: Greatest comeback since Lazarus

Incredible win! Very fortunate to have Coach Sobolewski. Not saying we will or won't see a post-season tourney, but people mistakenly think it's all about RPI. That's a component. There have been teams on both sides with top 50, 40 RPI's but get left out of the main tournament. USU comes to mind a f...

Re: The weaknesses exposed

You have to also blame the leadership and not just the coaches. Joe O'Brien was on campus with Paul Bubb before Oliver was done coaching and before the "committee" had even formed. Everybody in the world knew O'Brien would be the coach, and some national media criticized the unprofessional workings ...

And what was the Jolly/Martin mess? https://idahostatejournal.com/members/idaho-state-explains-contract-extensions/article_a6693982-fcf7-11e3-844a-0019bb2963f4.html The Bengals were perched on the edge of drawing the NCAA’s ire beca...

Re: Thank You Seniors

They obviously did not hire Evans to win. He was 40 something percent wins at S.U.U., and around 32 percent here. He must be working for nothing. But even that should not be enough to keep him. I agree to a certain extent. Evans was brought in to help clean up the APR mess O'Brien left, and there w...
