No rest in the recruiting game!:

The Offers Continue; Devante Downs CAL, Kimane Domena Colorado State, Ryan Nall adds Portland State

http://www.northwesteliteindex.com/2013 ... mena-nall/

One of the state’s top RB/LB’s Ryan Nall (6-3 230 Jr. RB/LB) of Central Catholic, landed his first of what will likely be many offers. Nall was offered by Portland St where his brother is currently on full scholarship. Jacob Nall was the Mt Hood Conference Defensive Player of the year, and Ryan will be a likely candidate for the award next season.

Nall is big and fast and consistently laying hat. He doesn’t say a whole lot, as he lets his play do the talking on most occasions. He is ranked our #3 LB and #2 RB state wide for the 2014 class and has a legit D1 frame. Ryan will most likely be a double digit offer kid, as you can’t teach 6-3 230 and fast.

Congrats to the youngest Nall on PSU, the Vikings would be happy with the two talented brothers on the field together.

If in fact Jaime Hill is going to a 3-4 Defense, this kid will likely be a great candidate for next year's class of recruits.

Vikings Move On The Four Horsemen Of Roosevelt On Historic Day

In fact the Rough Rider Four and the Vikings may have made history today. We have covered this as long as anyone and there is no one that can remember a 4 offer package from one school like this. Not from a college nor for a High School.

Vikings Come After Jordan Morgan Today

http://www.northwestprepreport.com/jord ... -psu-offer

On our Best of 2014 NW Prospect Watch List you will find this talented wider receiver and safety. His name is Jordan Morgan. And if you don’t know who he is yet you will if your anywhere near a Southridge Skyhawk game this year. The 6’2″- 200 lbs wide receiver has a stunning combination of speed and agility and moves to make you look twice.

With a superb offer from San Jose State to his credit he headed down to Portland State for a visit with the Coaches and the staff today. His Mom Holy Kraft Morgan was a Viking for Jordan, who knows a lot about the Vikings, was curious to see what it was like up close and personal. The visit was great and culminated with an offer from Coach Nigel Burton to play for the Vikings after High School. Something Morgan felt really great about!

“It was great to get an offer and to be there at PSU,” said an always upbeat Morgan!

What really stood out at the visit? Because an offer is not always enough and the PSU Coaches have been known for the ability to “close the deal” as they say by selling the strengths of the program.

“My favorite thing was how welcoming the coaches were and how every player loves it there. The community is great and the coaches actually are like Father figures to the players,” said Morgan.

Time will tell if this offer sticks. He seems to be destined for bigger schools but does not mean it will happen or that the choices once weighed and measured will be as good all things considered.

Stay tuned to follow this guy and catch Jordan all Spring and Summer as a part of Chasing The Dream!

One of the NW’s fastest rising recruits grabs second offer; CC’s Ryan Nall:

http://www.northwesteliteindex.com/2013 ... n-johnson/

One of the fastest rising recruits in the entire region is Ryan Nall (6-2 225 Jr. LB/RB) of Central Catholic. The kid has freakish strength and just continues to impress, and on Thursday landed an offer from an up and coming Northern Colorado team.

Oregon’s top defensive player last season Dallin Leavitt says, “Dude’s a mini Colt Lyerla”. I would project Nall to have at least half the Pac 12 before all is said and done, as you can’t teach the combination of size, strength, and speed that he possesses.

Referencing the offer Ryan says, “It was a little unexpected but I’m still grateful for the offer, I now have the opportunity to play with and against my brother”.

Many remember Ryan’s brother Jacob from a few years back, who a was a former Mt Hood Conference Defensive Player of the year himself, and accepted a scholarship to stay at home and play at PSU.

Ryan now has offers from Portland State and Northern Colorado, and was one of the most impressive kids at our Barton Camp/Combine in Salem last weekend. His testing scores for an athlete his size are pretty ridiculous, and the word is good from high levels D1′s

We wish Nall continued success on and off the field. He’s an outstanding kid and someone projected to have double digit scholarship offers before next years signing day.

Sheldon’s Mitch Herbert and Lakeridge’s Marqueese Royster grab first offer

http://www.northwesteliteindex.com/2013 ... n-johnson/

A kid we have been talking about for a long time got some good news today, as the Portland State Vikings made their intentions known offering Lakeridge DL Marqueese Royster (6-1 250 Jr. DL).

As many know Marqueese comes from a long line of professional athletes, which includes the likes of his father (Marcus) who played in the NFL and the Arena League. You also can’t forget his uncle Mazio Royster who was All-American at USC before moving on to the NFL (Tampa Bay & Jacksonville).

Referencing the offer and his commitment Marqueese said, “I am blessed, the proud tradition of the Royster D lineman continues at Portland State… I’m speechless right now, thanks for all that you guys have done for me”.

Royster has been a fixture at our elite events for the last two seasons, and was part of our Team Oregon squad who beat Team Alaska 40-29 in the Winter Showcase. He is coming off a 2012 season, where he was one of the state leaders in sacks with 10.5.

Marqueese was the 7th Oregon junior D lineman offered by a D1 school so far this off season, making the 2014 group one of the more dominant classes in history.

We want to wish Royster continued success moving forward, as the family has been some of our biggest supporters over the last few seasons. Queese is just getting started and we will keep you updated as things happen.

NEI’s #2 ranked Jr. WR/S , Mitch Herbert (6-4 190) of Sheldon, got some good news as the Portland St Vikings extended a scholarship offer. This was Herbert’s first D1 offer after a junior season that saw him help the Irish to the state title, being a key member of the squad on both sides of the ball.

He says, “I really enjoyed my visit up to PSU and really liked the coaches….It feels great to get my first offer, but also motivates me to keep getting better”.

Herbert caught 22 passes for 409 yards and 9 Tds, good for second on the team in 2012. The state championship run was big as Sheldon went (14-0) and finished nationally ranked. Mitch was key defensively as well, making 44 tackles , and having 2 Int’s and 3 pass deflections on the year.

Mitch will be a candidate for SWC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors this up coming season. He is extremely athletic and long, and could very well be a safety at the next level. You can’t teach size, and Herbert is able to use unique body control to exploit his overall athleticism.

We wish Mitch continued success as he will have multiple options from a scholarship stand point. He’s another class kid from a program that we can’t say enough good things about.

House receives offer at PSU Camp

http://www.myvalleynews.com/story/71534/

TEMECULA – On Sunday, June 2, six Valley football players were among the select 150 invited to the Nigel Burton Portland State University (PSU) Football Camp held at the Fontana Sports Complex in Fontana, Ca. Five were from Linfield Christian School.

At the end of camp, Linfield defensive end Dallas House was offered a scholarship by PSU Head Coach Nigel Burton in front of his friends and family. House was a 2012 All-CIF Southern Section Defense selection. He was also named to the maxpreps Division IV All-State Second Team. Portland State University is a Division 1AA program.

Also competing at the camp from Linfield were defensive tackle/long snapper Jake Aguayo, wide receivers/defensive backs Alex Larson, Lorenzo Burns and Simeon Burns. Safety/running back Anthony Bandong from Great Oak was also invited to compete. The athletes spent four hours showcasing their skills on both offense and defense.

Portland State University is a Division 1AA program and competes in the Big Sky Conference. Their offense averaged more than 438 yards (216.5 on the ground and 222.2 passing) and 34.8 points per game, ranking among the top twenty in the nation in three categories. The Vikings’ defense also held five Big Sky opponents under ninety yards rushing and ranked sixth in the nation with almost eight tackles for loss per game.

"Dallas can be a difference-maker," said Coach Burton, "and we were excited to see him in action. He will be a great contributor to our program."

This is the first time that PSU has made an offer at a camp.

Brown Family Stoked At Local Option!:

Did you hear the one about the local boy who got one of his dream offers? Well if you didn't it played out tonight at the Peter Stott field where Josh Brown of Beaverton, Oregon landed an offer he had wanted to have happen. The 6'6" 245 lb TE / DE from Sunset High School was a stand out at the Northwest Elite Football Camp on June 7th and PSU was paying attention. Today they confirmed what they had hoped and made a move on Brown offering him a full ride to stay right in his own back yard and play for the Vikings!

One of the region’s best grabs first offer; Canby’s Sam Bodine:

One of the top linebackers in the Pacific Northwest, Sam Bodine (6-2 220) of Canby, got some much overdue news Tuesday night.

Nigel Burton and the Portland State Vikings did the smart thing by extending a scholarship offer to the in-state talent. Most of us considered Bodine the top recruit in the region without an offer, and it was refreshing to see the Viks make the move.

There have been some big time developments and some real surprises in terms of new faces who rose and grabbed the brass ring. CC Gunslinger Aidan Wilder Lands Offer #1

That first college offer is out there somewhere or at least many of our best NW Athletes hope so. For Aidan Wilder yesterday was the day his number came up. The Quarterback from Central Catholic in Portland, Oregon was offered a full ride to play for the PSU Vikings. It was a big day for him.

We caught up to Aidan today and talked with him about the offer and how he was feeling about it.

NWPR- So how does it feel? Has it all set in yet?

Aidan - “I couldn’t help but hug Coach Burton and coach Barnum! Having a program that believes in me as a QB is just such a blessing. I’ve been waiting a long time for this to come around and now that it has it just motivates me even more to get things done this year with my team.”

NWPR- Are there some things you can credit for the offer happening?

Aidan- ”I couldn’t give enough credit to the guys I’ve had around me that give me the opportunities to make plays!”

NWPR- Aidan PSU seems like a great fit with that Pistol offense given your ability to run, throw, and make plays. Is this maybe the perfect fit?

Aidan- ”It potentially could be a great fit. They have a high power offense that can produce that would be awesome to be a part of.”

NWPR- So the question then is are they getting your pledge?

Aidan- ”At this point I am going to keep my options open. But after hanging out at their campus and watching PSU’s scrimmage today my interest in them has gone up tremendously.”

NWPR- Is this offer going to let you really focus on landing a State Championship for CC? This team sure looks like the one to get it done!

Aidan- ”I have always been completely focused on a State Title so this doesn’t change much. We definitely have the players to do it, all we need to do is be disciplined because no body can beat us but ourselves.”

NWPR- Anything else you want to add Aidan?

Aidan- ”Just such a blessing and all the credit to God. Without him none of this is possible. Thanks Dirk!”

NWPR- Anytime Aidan- We are all so very happy for you!

2013 High School Football Preview: Lakeridge's Marqueese Royster talks Portland State Vikings commitment (video)

The second week of our 2013 Oregon High School Football Preview continued on Wednesday with a stop at Lakeridge for a visit with the Pacers during their team camp.

At each stop during our three-week, 40-school, 1,500-mile tour of Oregon high school football, we're picking at least one student athlete to answer five questions, some football-related and some not.

At Wednesday's practice we caught up with Lakeridge senior defensive lineman Marqueese Royster. In the video below, Royster talks about his commitment to the Portland State Vikings football program, the new positions he is learning to help the Pacers improve their defense and the Lakeridge players he feels are poised for a breakout season in 2013.

I like Marqueese Royster's comments about it feeling like "home," and the fact that his dad played here and he's been around the program. Looking forward to seeing him in the future.
