• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Who cares about the bid? Weber was and is the better team. Had better, and more wins than UND. And its losses were to two top 5 teams teams by a combined 8 points. The Cats should have been hosting even if UND bid $1M against $1. Two major issues wrong with how the NCAA selects and runs this tournament. One, why are teams even bidding? Is the NCAA really money poor? The association made $1.16B in 2021 and is set to make almost $3B in 2022 (supposedly a non-profit). I have a feeling they can afford a few charters with the home team splitting lodging and transportation fees. Those fees would be far lower than any bid (from what I understand, UND gave the NCAA $150K for a home game and doesn't get that back). Its corrupt, but to keep the NCAA happy, it can still take 85% of ticket sales to help "support the tournament."

Next, I'm upset about this regionalization garbage. If the NCAA is fine with sending two FBS teams (Miami Ohio vs. UAB) to play in an absolutely inconsequential bowl game in the Bahamas, it should be able to send equal member institutions anywhere in the nation to play in a real playoff deciding an actual national champion. USE Actual seeds. Why the hell are two Big Sky schools playing each other in the second round? This is the third time this has happened to Weber in recent playoff history. Personally, I think it is set up this way more to protect weaker conferences than it is about saving money.

Change needs to happen. I think every Big Sky school, sans Montana, can agree that Haslam should not be part of the selection committee. Send ISU's AD. She really doesn't have a dog in the fight. Haslam was dishonest and used his position to get UM in, and then to get a home game when the GRIZZ did not earn or deserve it. How many schools got screwed over because of this SEMO, UCD, etc etc etc.

Amen to everything you said! Committee sets up East coast conferences brackets to advance their crappy teams. If Weber State was the highest rated unseeded team (which everyone believes they deserved a seed), why did they draw a tough North Dakota team instead of a St. Francis? I’d be upset if UC Davis, they played Sac State tough and Montana got blown out, and Montana’s AD probably bargained away a seed for Weber State bracketed in with Montana State to get his team in. Definitely shouldn’t be an AD of a playoff eligible or bubble team. It really is corrupt, but still miles better than FBS’s Dog and Pony show because it can be settled in the field once you get in.

UM blown out by Sac St? What…. Griz lost in OT with a crappy backup QB. Davis lost by 6 in regulation. Just setting your facts straight. Griz lost by 7 in OT, and Davis lost by 6 in regulation. Who played them tougher?

Agreed you played Sac. St. tough (still lost) but you got decimated by your rival MSU, lost to us, and got beat at home by Idaho. 7-4 didn’t deserve to get Montana in and your AD being on the committee and the school willing to throw cash around just reek of conspiracy and collusion. Bottom line the AD from Montana doesn’t care about the other Big Sky schools and the process needs changed badly!! Even if the committee “felt” Montana deserving they should’ve been on the road. The fact is the screw job was in and Montana’s AD is as crooked as a pornstars johnson!!

Was referring to the last week of play with Montana being blown out by MSU and UC Davis playing Sac State tough and not the head to head match up vs Sac State. 4-4 conference record not really great…and no big wins for Griz. UC Davis finished 5-3 in conference and beat Idaho. I’d take their 6-5 vs Montana’s 7-4 anytime.

Watched first half vs SEMO…didn’t look good, but special teams came up big in 2nd half. Congratulations! Hope the Griz take down NDSU.

Does it get any better than this? A second round playoff game in Bozeman against two 10 win teams?!?

I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but since meeting State in late October, Weber has played 2 more games than MSU. Weber has faced 5 opponents (UM, SAC, ISU, NAU and UND) against State's 3 (NAU, POLY and UM). Playing more does beat you up, yet simultaneously helps a team improve and active. One area of interest is Weber's defense against the run. Since allowing MSU to run all over the field, the Cats have been fairly successful. Montana had 42 (1.1 ypc) yards, SAC 204 (4.0 ypc), ISU 154 (3.7 ypc), NAU 55 (2.0 ypc), and UND 204 (8.2 ypc, but remember UND was gifted 64 yard by the refs. Without that kerfuffle it is 5.6 ypc. Who knew an incomplete duck is now a fumble?). Personally, I feel the Wildcats have gotten better, other than limping at the end against UND. Truly that is the game. Stop State's run and make them one-dimensional. Easier said than done though. If it was only that easy. Hahahaha...Just remember NAU's QB put up over 450 passing yards against MSU's secondary. Maybe the Cats should toss the ball a bit more.

I absolutely HATE Montana St. Worst college game I ever played in. My roommate blew his knee, it was ugly. As I ran on the field he begged me to put his knee back together. It was completely detached. I won’t go into the details but I WANT REVENGE! Hope we kick their azz.

2022 season cut shorter than desired for Wildcat Football...but what a season it's been! Record 6 straight wins to begin, including a rare win over FBS Utah State Aggies to savor!

Thank You ! Coaches, players, staff !!! :thumb:

Totally agree, after last season, I looked at the tough schedule and thought 5-6 or 6-5 was very possible with how the offense looked the previous year. Instead, 10 wins including a win in Logan, a playoff home win, and should be a top 10 finish. Need to improve the lines and depth, but definitely a pleasant surprise this year. They are close to having a team that could win the FCS Championship.

Congratulations on the great season to all players, coaches, and staff! Football has been a pleasure to watch!

Gotta tip your cap to the Bobcats. That run game is unreal. I said after their game against Montana that they are national championship quality and they proved it again today. They can beat anyone left in the field.

From our first game against Western Oregon my biggest concern was our d-line. We didn’t have game wreckers like we have had in the past with McKay, Schiess, Rodriguez, Tarlas etc. We have a lot of quality guys but we need to find some all-conference level up front. They simply couldn’t get off blocks today and they didn’t make any plays in the backfield. We were able to mitigate that weakness throughout the year with stellar secondary play. Montana State is built perfectly to show our defense’s warts.

Overall, it was another great season of football under Jay Hill. They far exceeded expectations and should bring back the vast majority of the team. Barron improved considerably this year under Mental. I can’t wait to see another year with this offense.

I'm 100% with you Dan. The best team won today and we are very close to getting over that hump. For us, right now, it's not about the skill positions, it's all about the trenches. I feel like we will get there next year. We get the majority of our starters back and just need a few key studs allong both lines. If we get what we need with recruiting and development, we can take that next step.

Next year it will be the same three, MSU, Sac, and WSU dominating the BSC. Idaho and Davis will be good again as well. Our schedule is more favorable next year and hopefully there will be some restructuring of the selection process for the FCS playoffs.

Good luck to MSU and Sac the rest of the way. :thumb:

I think SAC loses a lot this year, not sure how they will be next year. Idaho I think is still on the upswing. Congrats on a good year, still thinking about going to Ogden next year for the game.

What a game! Weber did what they could, but State is just soooo good. That offense is healthy and multi-dimensional. Right when you think Mellot is contained, some other guy has the ball running for a big gain. I really don't see anyone being able to beat MSU. They are the team to beat. Weber was reeling with injuries and losing a couple more guys on Saturday did not help us. No matter, I really hope State goes on and wins a title. So much fun to watch. I'm really envious. hahaha

Cats, you are definitely a great guy. Glad you post from time to time. Keep it up and good luck the rest of the way! As for next year, MSU is the team to beat. They lose nobody. Weber...well, we have some holes to fill and it might start with the HC. Gotta see how things pan out over the next few weeks. Honestly, Jay will have a lot of really good options next Fall. One more year in Ogden would be great, but if the right job becomes available, he has definitely earned it. Regardless, that you Coach Hill for all the you have done and continue to do!! We are definitely lucky to have you and your staff!!

I hear Hill is going to be the DC at BYU. Sorry to hear but he is a good coach and that is how it works in the FCS. WSU has the program to attract a good coach, and will continue to be a power in the BSC.

It's Bobcats vs. the MVC (South Dakota St)...other than UIW left that might get in the way...most pundits predict an all MVC final. Sac St. couldn't outscore UIW this time yesterday & their HC Taylor is headed to Stanford as their new HC. Remember he was another coach along the same path as Jay Hill who left Utah as OC, took a paycut ,went to his alma mater, Sac St., built them into a success, & now moves to greener pastures with FBS. Several Big Sky HC openings, huh? :coffee:

GO BOBCATS ! beat SDSU, then likely NDSU for a FCS Championship via the BSC !!

Sac State had 4 turnovers while IW had 0, and the Hornets still almost won. They had 738 yards of offense but defense gave up 579. This has to feel like the Maine game did to Weber State. The Hornets have seemed to play tight and not execute as well in the playoffs.

Was hoping they’d have a dominant win and show the committee what a joke their seeding was.

I think Bobcats are going to do it. A lot of new coaches come next season. It will be interesting for sure.

North Dakota State barely escaped with a win last night against UIW...only team left to thwart an all MVC final is the Big Sky Bobcats. Here's to a Bobcat victory today & Jan 2023!! :thumb:

P.S. It's 4 minutes left at the frozen tundra of South Dakota State, miserable to watch Bobcats being beaten up & trailing by 3 TDs...so it's as the so called experts predicted: North vs. South--the Dakota's.

I've always thought that in the football playoff games, College & Pro, northern sites shouldn't be hosting unless they have a covered, heated stadium. It isn't fair to the teams as it restrains a lot of talent & skill when fighting the weather elements! Just not right...to play in or even watch on screen! :eek:hno:
